We’ll be launching another 7-day course starting this Saturday 14 August. For this upcoming course, we’ll be making a number of changes:
Revamped, extensive onboarding process
Before the class starts, we'll provide a lot of more details about how this course works, what's expected from you, and how you can get the most out of this class.
- Tips on maximizing success - we’ll share notes on how to make the best use of your time in this class, so that you get the most out of it. This includes limiting your time, making space in your schedule, working with the instructor, etc.
- Video recordings walkthrough - we’ll walk you through what’s expected of you for your daily video recordings. We’ll give tips on how to record better videos and set expectations on video length and quality
- Onboarding call - we’ll schedule a 1-on-1 onboarding call before the class starts to walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
Restructured process
Our daily process has been restructured. Now it goes like this:
- Instructor posts prompt videos in group chat in the morning
- You work with instructor privately to practice and improve your response
- Record your response via video and share with the group
This new structure addresses a number of feedback points we recieved:
- It reduces the “pockets” of effort required each day from 2-times to 1-time a day. You no longer have to wait for the “feedback video” to prepare your final speech.
- Working directly with the instructor allows them to correct you on the spot, so you know specifically where your speech had mistakes
- This reduces the chatter in the main group
- You can also practice more freely 1-on-1 with the instructor, without worrying about disturbing your classmates
More comprehensive learning objectives
We’ll be brining in more structure into the daily lessons, so you can be confident that you’re getting a full-fledged Chinese education. This includes more level-appropriate vocabulary words, grammar structures, and Chinese idioms (成语).
Lesson topics will also be structured around general topics (work, lifestyle, conversation, news, etc.), so that we can revisit topics for reinforcement exercises
Separate out chat functions
